The verdict

Higher Editors' Rating: LifeMD

LifeMD edges out Hims & Hers on the Editors' Rating, 80 to 76 (B− vs C). Mothers who want clinician oversight and a big, established, all-50-states operation, and who understand the real monthly is the membership plus a separate brand-medication cost.

Hims & Hers is still a genuine option — ⛔ FDA warning letters dated 9 September 2025, over the compounded-semaglutide business it has since left behind. Through the Hers front door, a mass-market brand now selling FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1s — Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic — instead of the compounded semaglutide it used to. The posted price is only half the bill: a required $149/mo membership sits on top of whatever the medication costs, so the real monthly number is roughly double what the landing page shows. Weigh the six factors below against your own priorities.

Hims & Hers

Ranked #18 · Grade C

What we like

  • Now selling FDA-approved brand-name medication (Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic) rather than compounded semaglutide
  • An explicit women's entrance (Hers) and a polished nationwide app most mothers already trust
  • Oral and injectable routes, so a needle-averse first-timer has a way in

The caveats

  • The posted 'from $149/mo' price is medication only — a required $149/mo membership (billed separately, $39 the first month) roughly doubles the real ongoing cost
  • Carries FDA warning letters dated 9 September 2025 over the prior compounded-semaglutide business, before this pivot to brand-name product
  • A volume-first model — ongoing clinical touch is lighter than a dedicated care team

LifeMD

Ranked #8 · Grade B−

What we like

  • Discloses starting cash prices for both the membership and each medication, so the two line items are separately checkable
  • Nationwide, physician-led care, so treatment survives a move
  • Transparent about the industry-wide shift away from compounded GLP-1s and toward FDA-approved brand product

The caveats

  • The $149/mo figure is the membership fee, not the medication — the real monthly is membership plus a separately billed drug starting around $199–$349
  • Compounded semaglutide/tirzepatide is being phased out here as the FDA shortage exemption has ended, so the cheaper compounded-era pricing no longer applies
  • Large-platform support is competent but rarely personal
