The masthead ledger

Editorial independence & advertising

A magazine is only worth reading if you know who pays for it. Here is exactly who pays for this one, and what that money can and cannot buy.

MetabolicMoms is reader-supported and free to read. We keep it that way with affiliate links: when we send you to a provider and you sign up, that provider may pay us a referral fee. It never adds a cent to your cost. Rather than stamp a little “ad” badge on individual providers, we tell you the plain truth once, here — any provider on this masthead may have a commercial relationship with us, and you should read every recommendation with that in mind.

The firewall: money cannot move a rating

The number that matters on this site — the Editors' Rating — is scored on six weighted factors under one published rubric, applied the same way to every provider we cover. A referral fee has no line in that scorecard. A provider that pays us and scores poorly is ranked poorly; a provider that pays us nothing and scores well is ranked well. If that ever stopped being true, this whole magazine would be worthless, so we hold the line.

What money buys in the running order is placement, and that is worth being exact about: on the ranking table and the best-of boards we list the titles we work with first, then everyone else, each group in Editors’ Rating order. It buys nothing else — not the rating, not the six factors, not a line of the copy. The rating is printed beside every row, so the order can be weighed against it.

What advertising can do: spotlight, disclosed

Commercial relationships can influence emphasis — the cover spotlight, a featured card, how often a provider comes up. That is the honest limit of what money buys here, and wherever it applies we disclose it on the page itself. The order of a ranked list is never for sale; the prominence of a feature sometimes is, and we will always say so.

Who runs this desk

MetabolicMoms is an independent publisher. We are not a pharmacy, a telehealth company, or a drug manufacturer, and we hold no relationship with any provider or maker beyond ordinary affiliate agreements. We do not attempt to cover every brand in the market — the ones we review are the ones our readers, as mothers, keep asking about. Meet the editors on our masthead.

A starting point, not a prescription

Choosing a GLP-1 provider is a personal health decision, and our reporting is a place to begin it — not medical advice. Compounded GLP-1 medications are not FDA-approved finished drug products, and GLP-1 medicines are not appropriate during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Pricing and availability change constantly; confirm the current details on any provider's own site, and talk to a licensed clinician before you start. See our medical disclaimer.
